The Phoenix Challenge…
Held once a year towards the end of August – and often hosted at Larch Hill, Dublin – The Phoenix is the 4 day All-Ireland National Campcraft Competition.
Every qualifying team (Coming 1st or 2nd in the Regional Heats) go head-to-head for that Prestigious Phoenix Trophy.
Every Patrol will receive a Gold or Silver or Bronze standard certificate.

Congratulations to the Viking Patrol, who competed (in the Phoenix Challenge 2014) against 82 of Ireland’s Finest from their respective counties.
Out of these 82 teams only 40 earned the Gold Standard – and 33rd Derry was one of them.

Phoenix Encore…
33rd Derry have been competing in the Phoenix Challenge since 2012 when it first began.
The Phoenix was previously called ‘The Melvin‘, and began in 1949. 33rd Derry first competed in 1997.
It is a very exciting experience for all those present.Our Leaders often staff at the event.
Everyone learns so much from this 4 day competition. This is Scouting in Action, and other than a Jamboree, this isan opportunity to meet Scouts from all over Ireland.
